What EBITDA deliberately hides

Adding back depreciation treats capital expenditure as though it never happened. For an asset-light software business that is fair; for a haulage firm replacing trucks every seven years it is fiction. Warren Buffett's objection is exactly this: the wear on the assets is a real cost, whatever the accounting label.
