How this differs from the general calculator
Removing VAT is division, not subtraction. A £120 gross price at 20% VAT contains £20 of VAT, not £24: the net is 120 ÷ 1.2 = £100. Subtracting 20% instead gives £96 and is the most common VAT error on small-business invoices.
